Schools' Creativity on show as Church hosts art Exhibition

Around 200 people visited Leigh Road Baptist Church, Essex, when it hosted a schools' art exhibition recently.

The Leigh Art Trail Schools Exhibition featured work from senior schools for the first time. Each school was asked to submit five pieces from their best students to the exhibition.

The winners and runners were presented with prizes at a private view on Friday 14 June. Three judges from the Art Trail (Jo Maddison), Leigh Road Baptist (David Elcock) and the local artist (Linda Bygrave) judged the work. Around 100 adults and children attended the presentation and private view.

The exhibition was then open to the general public over the weekend 15-16 June, manned by volunteers from the church.

SEEVIC College also exhibited work on the theme of 'Estuary Abstraction' with a live art demonstration involving projection and paints by local artist and SEEVIC Art Lecturer Tadeus Blower.

Jo Maddison said 'The standard on show of art submitted this year was extremely high.

'It was so good to see such creativity from these young artists who we hope will be future exhibitors in the Leigh Art Trail.'
