Huddersfield church appoints new Family Worker

New North Road Baptist Church in Huddersfield has appointed Mrs Rhona Knight as its new trainee Children and Family worker

RhonaRhona will be leading the work in the church with children and their families while training with CYM (Institute for Children and Youth Mission) from its base in Nottingham.

The CYM Nottingham centre serves the Midlands and the North in providing degree-level professional training in Christian family ministry and youth ministry. Students work within placement churches either as volunteers or part-time workers.

Rhona already lives in Huddersfield with her husband and two young boys and is currently a member of an Anglican church, but was previously baptised and active in a Baptist church in her native Glasgow.

Now she will become a member at New North Road and work with the church for the three years of her CYM training. She will be involved in Junior Church, in Messy Church and in new initiatives to support family life.

New North Road had been praying that it would find a children’s worker with enthusiasm and experience, and ideally someone who already lived in the area.

It advertised the post nationally, and the advert was spotted by Rhona’s husband who persuaded Rhona that it was just right for her, who lives
less than two miles from the church. Both the church and the new worker feel that the Lord has brought them together.

Rhona will begin work with New North Road at the beginning of September and then later that month will start her degree course. It’s a new start that the Lord has provided and the church feels sure it will be a blessing to them all and to the families of Huddersfield.
