Scarecrow nativity in Alvechurch

Alvechurch Baptist Church this year felt able to invite the village community to take part in a Scarecrow nativity in aid of Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove

Scarecrow MagiA weekend of display and activities was planned to coincide with the village lights switch-on, after which free mulled wine was available and folk could visit the church to see the creations contributed by many village organisations and individuals.

On a fine cold evening with the community choir carolling in the church courtyard, many villagers were welcomed into the chapel for the first time to view the wonderfully creative efforts by all concerned.

Scarecerow shepherds1And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

Scarecrow MaryWhile they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,  and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
