The Revd Simon Farrar: 1956-2019

'We give thanks not just for what he did, but for how he did it. All that Simon did demonstrated his love for Jesus'

Simon FarrarSimon was a much loved member of the South West Baptist Association family. Together, he and his wife Lauren have faithfully served both those in our churches and other ministers and their families in the South West.

Simon’s wisdom and his considerable experience of ministry have been invaluable to so many, particularly to those Newly Accredited Ministers in the South West whom he has mentored, but also to many more who have been encouraged in their walk of faith and their ministry through Simon’s friendship.

Simon achieved so much but we give thanks not just for what he did, but for how he did it. All that Simon did demonstrated his love for Jesus, his passion for the gospel and his desire to see the people of God grow deeper in their relationship with Him and share their faith with others.

He was truly inspirational and we will miss him very much.

Our prayers are with Lauren, Rachel, Sarah, Joe and their families and our commitment as an Association family is to walk the journey ahead together.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Ps 121:1-2)”

Simon was a recently retired Baptist minister who served as Chaplain at Lee Abbey. He had previously been minister of Taunton Baptist Church and (2006-2012) Ceylon Baptist Church (1998-2006)

Words from the Revd Carl Smethhurst, regional minister in the South West Baptist Association, who led Simon's funeral service.
