Sharon Dirckx: the exclusive

As Catalyst Live 2013 approaches, Sharon Dirckx talks about the intersection of science and faith in her life in an exclusive interview with BMS World Mission

'I became a Christian in the middle of a biochemistry degree,' says author, academic tutor and scientist Sharon Dirckx. As a scientist and a Christian, Sharon has enjoyed productive and pleasant working experiences with Christian and non-Christian scientists alike. 'We generated some science that was good and some that wasn’t,' she says.

In an exclusive podcast with BMS, the Catalyst Live speaker explains her faith journey and unpacks Christian apologetics. 'Apologetics is a way of removing road blocks, so that people can see Jesus more clearly,' says Sharon, as she sheds light on what it is like to be a Christian and a scientist in today’s world.

Becoming a Christian in her early twenties, Sharon kept her faith and incorporated it into her career. In expanding her knowledge of science to a PhD in brain imaging, she has held positions in Switzerland, the US and in Oxford. Now she studies and works as an academic tutor at Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.

Sharon Dirckx will be speaking at Catalyst Live on 27 November in Manchester and 28 November in Reading. Tickets are selling out fast, so book your place today.

You can find the full Sharon Dirckx interview in the January 2014 issue of Engage.
